Born and raised in Mexico, Julian first migrated to the US in 2002 at the very young age of sixteen. Over the next 20 years he worked his way up through the ranks in San Francisco area restaurants and from day one he knew he had found his calling.
He began his career as a dishwasher at Fisherman’s Wharf restaurants. He then worked at Dantes Seafood Grill on Pier 39 moving on to work the line at the Cioppino’s Restaurant for 12 years. In 2010, he joined the team at Scoma’s as a line cook and earned the title of Sous Chef in 2014. Only a few short months later he was made the Executive Chef at Scoma’s Sausalito where he stayed until 2020.
Chef Julian then joined the Left Coast team as the Executive Chef and managing partner and hasn’t looked back. The Left Coast opened its doors in December 2020, and although opening a new restaurant during a global pandemic has certainly had its challenges, Chef Julian is just getting started!
